Cruelty Free Never tested on animals, ever. I also have put it in a travel-size container and carry it around with me and if I feel my skin is getting greasy I just put some onto a cotton pad and wipe my face and it leaves me feeling fresh and clean. It does smell like roses when you squeeze it out of the bottle but I haven't noticed my skin smelling like roses and it hasn't made me sneeze or make my eyes water after use.
I've been using the rose petal toner for years and it was the absolute best. I read that they sold out to Loreal last year so I expected the product would be altered. The original product did not have added caprylyl glycol, ethylhexylglycerine, or potassium hydroxide. The water no longer says purified and the fragrance no longer says what it is, where it used to say natural rose.
This may not matter to some people, but it certainly did to me. It's a shame that they changed the formula unnecessarily.
So sad to have to find a new company to purchase this from. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. I have been using this toner for a few years. I use it after cleansing my face and before serum, moisturizer and eye cream in the evening. I used to use it in the morning as well but switched to a more "potent" toner for during the day. I highly recommend it. I purchased the Lavender version of this toner to help control any possible breakouts and oil from my oily skin while using clean ingredients.
I'm glad I made the switch from my previous toner to this one because it makes my skin feel flawless. The scent is very light and it refreshes my skin without the burning sensation like other toners. I feel as if it has also helped hydrate my skin and maybe that is because of the cleaner ingredients may just be me.
Overall, my new staple toner for life! I wish I could give this 0 stars. I used to use this years ago and y'all go educate yourselves if you use this. Witch hazel on its own is WAY too irritating and drying, but to pair it with irritating essential oils should be illegal.
I've been using the Thayers rose petal toner for about a decade, that's how much I loved this product. I recently repurchased via Ulta, and I noticed immediately the difference.
First and foremost the scent is awful. It used to be a light rose water scent, but now it is a strong artificial powdery scent, irritates my skin and sinuses. It's also not as hydrating and refreshing as it used to be which sucks. I asked the company if they changed the formula and they gave me this long-winded advertisement reply which in the end they were saying yes they did change the formula.
I can't use this anymore which bums me out because the rose petal toner used to be so great for my skin, why I've used it for a decade! I'm going to give the unscented version a try, but I'm not holding my breath that it won't irritate my skin now too.
